Hello to one and all.

While doing family tree research, a have a picture of my father next to a plaque which reads, "Warren's Turnaround".
This plaque was put up in memory of Willie D. Warren, PFC US54064157, Company C, 832nd Engineer Aviation Battalion. Warren died in line of duty under hazard conditions on 13 June 1953.

So here's what I need info about. Where exactly is this plaque situated? I believe it's in Alaska, but I'm not sure. My father was stationed there during the Korean War era. My father had written on the picture that this plaque was at the "top of runway."

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Hi Anna. I'm glad you found the site.

Unfortunately, most of my information stops at the end of WWII when the IX Engineer Command ceased to exist. Most of the units were collapsed into smaller numbers. I do have one book that has a little information about the Engineer Aviation units into the 1950's that I will find on my next visit to my library (I'm in the middle of a move). I'll see if it has anything.

One other option is to try the National Archives. Here is a post I made about requsting information from there ...
