Hi to everyone here. I have a 1942 Chevy G506. I found a picture of one involved in the set up of the fighter base at St Pierre Du Mont it was the 834 battalion . I want to letter my truck for that unit and I would like any info or clear pictures of bumper markings. So far I have found in the manual for markings AR-850-5 that the general marking would be, facing the bumper and on the left, a 3 inch star to indicate AAF followed by the battalion in this case 834 then an E for engineers, cross to other side of bumper and add an A for aviation and then the vehicle number. But I also saw pictures of the the airfield triangle from the patch being used as a bumper marking on the left side of the bumper instead of the star. I think it would be great to have my truck marked for one that was in action. It is hard to find action photos of the Chevy's they were 1 1/2 ton trucks and over shadowed by the much more common GMC CCKW series of 2 1/2 ton trucks.
