Hello,
My dad, Charles P. Bondi, from San Jose, California, was in the 846th EAB WWII. There was little talk about the war from him throughout my life. I know of the turmoil and terror they all faced. Bless you all!
According to his discharge papers, Battles and Campaigns are listed as:
Normandy Northern France G0 33 WD 45 Rhineland Ardennes Central Europe G0 40 WD 45. I don't know which Company he was in.
I know he landed at Normandy July 15th or 16th, 1944 but not sure if it was Utah or Omaha Beach and he later went to Holland and the Ardennnes in Belgium.
His Seargent was Eugene Lindsay from Southern California, who I met as a youngster back in the 60's. They had lost touch many years ago.
My dad passed away in November, 2005.
If anyone knew him or anything about the 846th, I would be delighted to hear from you.
Thank you

Hello and welcome. Unfortunately, I have very little on the 846th EAB yet. As far as I can tell they didn't produce a unit history at the end of the war and I haven't gotten a sponsor yet to acquire their monthly reports from the archives.

I have added your father to the 846th EAB roster here and if you'd like to create a page for him, I'd be happy to help. You can find some sample pages here.

David

In the book Runways to Victory it mentions the 846th being a part of the repairs to Chievres. I have questions for that group after events at Chievres that could maybe dispell some rumors of the base.

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I posted this information about my Dad. I've recently found some pictures, patches, medals of his and am posting them here to share with you all. He was graded TEC 5 Corporal NCO, 846th EAB, CE. I do wish he would have told me more about his adventures in Europe during the war but completely understand why he didn't.
