Post subject:  Question to your terms on this website

Hi all!

I have a question about this side - a part of this with "for me" new or unknown therms. And therefore I need your help!

My question: On the side www.ixengineercommand.com/airfields/general.php > In the table there is a column “Development Engineer Aviation Battalion”. There stands the number of an Engineer unit, behind it stands a shortcut. Is this the abbreviation for the later use? So, for what the airfield was expanded?

When I am right, I know the follow shortcut´s:

ELS: Emergency Landing Strip
F/B: Fighter-Bomber
H/B: Heavy-Bomber
LIAS: Liaison
M/B: Medium-Bomber
TNSPT: Transport

but what is:
TNS:
TAD:
T/C
R&R
N/F
AFCS

Thank´s for your support. (And sorry for my old school english)

Matthias

Here are some of the abbreviations that you are looking for: TAD - Tactical Air Depot, R & R - Refueling & Rearming, there's also S & E - Supply & Evacuation. N/F could be Night Fighter, T/C could be Troop Carrier, TNS could be another abbreviation for Transport, but am not sure. Don't have anything for AFCS. You can also search Advance Landing Ground and look at the Wikipedia entry; you can also check www.skylighters.org/history/airfields.

The information on these pages is taken from the IX Engineer Command history. All the abbreviations are explained a the bottom the page.

Here is sa link to the firsg page of the history. The abbreviations are expaned at the bottom.

http://www.ixengineercommand.com/units/ ... -5-001.php

N/F is in fact Night Fighter
T/C is in fact Troop Carrier
TNS is just a typo and the original used TNSPT for Transport. I'm going to fix those.

I don't see the abbreviation of AFCS on the page. Can you point it out to me?
