Are you interested by the ALG's built by the Allied on Belgian soil... I strongly recommend 'Runways to Victory' written by Belgian Air Force pilot Peter CELIS.
Individual short story of each field and in depth history for some of them with mostly unpublished pictures
A second book (with maps) will be issued in 2007 !
Definitely a must

If you are interested ? send a PM how to get your copy

Hello,
Message to Mr Horsa. ( Thierry )
I am a citizen of Maldegem, Belgium.
I have read somewhere that you are in possesion of a map ( plan ) of the Maldegem Airfield. B-61. Is it not B - 65 ?
I should like to know more of this map, while I am interested in the (military ) history of my hometown.
There are still reamins of this airfield.
Vous pouvez me répondre en français, si vous voulez.
U moogt mij ook contacteren in het nederlands.

I have a copy of Runways to Victory and it is truly a great book. I am currently stationed at chievres AB (A84) and the book is what gave me the unit name that directed me here. I am looking fo any and all information regarding Chievres to add to the historian program here and in my personal interest to learn about the base I am currently stationed at.

Hey Jarrod and welcome. I'm sorry I haven't found anything in detail about A84 but I will keep an eye out for you.

I'll also see if I can located a copy of Mr Celis' book (any relation to the Peter Celis of Hoegaarden fame?). Horsa, do you know if the latest copy with maps has been published?

David

About the Maldegem Airfield, I have no forther needs of information.
I used the info for a Geocache about the Maldegem Airfield, known as
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... a45f9b3189 . (ed note: requires free registration to view)
I will go to the local town archives to get the existing map, you told me about.
Mr Horsa, thanks for your efforts to help me.

David;
The second volume of Runways to Victory is not out yet. I have been in contact with Peter Celis recently. I have no further details but the book is expected this year. I am stationed at A84 now known as Chievres AB. There are some details that probably only people that were here during the war would know that I am looking for. For anyone travelling to Belgium. There is a museum in the town near Chievres covering the Airfield's beginning from WWI to present day .

Thanks Jarrod. I'll keep my eyes out for it when it is published.
