Unfortunately PFC Holmes passed away on August 1, 2004 but this is an extract from his obituary.

James B Holmes

James B. Holmes, 87, formerly of 3216 Beeson Ave, Connersville, died Sunday morning, August 1, 2004 at Lincoln Center West.

A Connersville native he was born January 1, 1917 to George D. and Elsie Mae Iferd Holmes and attended 5th Street School. He served as a Private First Class in the US Army during WWII in the 818th Engineer Aviation Battalion. His military decorations include EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 bronze stars and Good Conduct Ribbon. He had been employed as a crane operator and worked in the foundry at Roots Blower for 33 years before retiring in 1979. He attended First Church of the Nazarene in Connersville and enjoyed reading his Bible, playing solitaire, fishing and was an avid walker.
